ABOUT PETE’S PALEO
What distinguishes Pete’s Paleo from other meal delivery services?
Great question! Here’s the deal. Pete is a classically trained chef from Le Cordon Bleu and has worked in the restaurant industry for over 15 years. He is an artist and food is his medium. Given that Pete’s Paleo puts a high importance on using seasonal ingredients, Pete takes pride in ensuring that each time that specific ingredient makes an appearance on our menu during the season, it’s treated differently each time – different spices and cooking methods – so that you’re not bored and everything tastes different each week!
Pete’s Paleo has direct relationships with our farms and ranches. We believe it’s important to know who is responsible for providing the food that we cook for each of you. We are cooking produce that was harvested out of the ground that day (sometimes the day before). Produce at the pinnacle of freshness means more nutrients for you!
I’m a new customer. What can I expect?

What goes into the price of the food?
What goes into the price of shipping?
Because we are shipping food fresh (not frozen), we have to make sure that each shipment gets delivered to our customers within 1-2 days. To ensure maximum freshness, we use frozen gel packs and insulated liners to protect the food which adds extra weight to the shipments and an extra expense for the materials. We’ve worked hard to get our customers the best shipping rates possible, given our transit time and packaging requirements. We don’t mark up our shipping rates so the rate that you see is the most discounted rate we can offer. We feel that the value of having someone else doing all the grocery shopping, food preparation, and cooking for you is priceless and we hope you feel the same.
How long do the meals last?
Your meals can stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to a week and can be put in the freezer for up to two months. All of our food is cooked completely free of additives and preservatives and we know you’ll taste the difference.
How do I reheat my meals?
The food is already cooked, you are just warming it up. Every item varies slightly, however generally you remove the food from the bags and either microwave for 1-2 minutes or sauté in a pan for 5-6 minutes (this is our preferred method).
How are the meals delivered?
Food can either be picked up at local San Diego locations or shipped directly to your home via UPS, nationwide. Food that is shipped is placed in insulated boxes with frozen gel packs (and dry ice during summer months), because we ship FRESH not frozen.
Local drop off orders must be picked up by Saturday, or Pete’s Paleo will not be responsible for food spoilage.
Remember, we are shipping food, and while it ships fresh in an insulated box with frozen gel packs (and sometimes dry ice), it’s still perishable. You will receive tracking information from UPS on Monday or Tuesday. Please arrange for the box to be refrigerated as soon as it’s delivered. Unfortunately, Pete’s Paleo cannot be responsible for food spoilage after the box has been delivered, if it is not refrigerated immediately. UPS does offer the ability for customers to arrange for alternative delivery options once you have your tracking number.
How are the meals packaged?
How big are the portions?
Every meal is a single serving and comes with 5-6 oz of protein and two 2-3 oz of cooked sides or accoutrements. This is plenty of food for almost all of our clients. That being said we do have the option for larger portion sizes for those living a very intense training regimen.
The upgrade will double your protein in each serving or add an additional side for each meal.
What is the Family Plan and how is it different from your other plans?
The Family Plan consists of 5 meals, with each meal consisting of 4 servings. It’s ideal for customers who are looking to order enough food to feed 4 people at once. Meals are not packaged individually, so it’s best for sharing and eating together “family style”.
Below is a side-by-side comparison of the Family Plan next to one of our individually packaged plans (5 meal, 10 meal, or 14 meal).
How many calories are in your meals?
Which meal plan is right for me?
Whether you’re looking to feed yourself or your entire family, we’ve got you covered. Check out our handy chart below to determine which plan works best for you:
If you are very active or require more food, check out our larger portion size options.
If you are looking for a plan that provides lunch and dinner for 2 people, we recommend that you order two 10 meal plans or two 14 meal plans. (Note: If ordering 2 meal plans for nationwide shipping, please place 2 separate orders)
Where do you get your ingredients from?
All of our produce comes from Suzie’s farm, a local all organic farm. Any substitutions from this will be supplemented with other local, organic ingredients. The protein comes from some of the best suppliers in Southern California or other nearby ranches. All the meat is natural, grass fed and pastured (where appropriate) and sustainably raised. It is Pete’s Paleo firm belief that you are what you eat and we will always strive to guarantee you are eating delicious, healthy food. Please see our suppliers page for more information.
I have a food allergy. Is Pete’s Paleo for me?
All of our meals are free of gluten, dairy, soy, corn, eggs, legumes, preservatives, GMOs, artificial sweeteners, and natural sweeteners (e.g. honey & maple syrup).
Most of our snacks contain nuts, so if you have a nut allergy, we recommend that you don’t order the snacks. Rarely do we include nuts in our meals, but when we do, we include it in the menu description.
Are Pete’s Paleo meals compliant with the Autoimmune Protocol?
We currently do not offer a complete Pete’s Paleo menu that’s compliant with the Autoimmune Protocol. Some of our meals include tomatoes and peppers and the spices we use include chili, paprika, other nightshades, and herbs from seeds like mustard and cumin. With that said, our meals are not recommended for someone who is very strictly following the AIP diet.
However, our line of meals made for the WAHLS PALEO PROTOCOL™ are completely AIP compliant!
What kind of fats/oils do you cook with?
We cook with avocado oil, animal fat, coconut oil, and olive oil (below the smoke point). We do NOT cook with butter or ghee.
Where do I place my order?
Please visit our shopping cart located here – http://buy.petespaleo.com/
What are order cutoff times and delivery days?
Every order that is in by Monday at midnight PST can be picked up at your dropoff location on that same Thursday or will be shipped to your home on Wednesday (1-2 day delivery time based on location). Every order that comes in after Monday at midnight PST will go into next week’s order and be next week’s menu.
Can I cancel my order?
If you need to cancel your order, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 888-418-1489 no later than Monday at midnight of the week that you’re scheduled to receive your order.
Can I make substitutions?
The only options for substitutions are no pork and no duck. If you choose no pork/duck we will just double up on some of the other proteins from that weeks menu. Pete’s Paleo feels it is crucial to your health that you are eating a varied, seasonal menu. That’s what our menus are based and designed around. Don’t be afraid to try new things and find out how delicious they are.
PETE’S PALEO BACON
How do I cook Pete’s Paleo Bacon?
How long does the bacon last?
Do you add anything crazy to your bacon?
Nope! Our bacon has been cured and smoked and we don’t add any sugar to it, only delicious spices and salt. It doesn’t contain nitrates, nitrites, nightshades, garlic, or onions either.

Does Pete’s Paleo send out samples for blog reviews?
Thanks a bunch for thinking of us, we LOVE it when people help us spread the word. Now, we get a TON of requests for free samples for review, so please include some really good reasons why we should send samples out to you. Those reasons should be as close as possible to this format :
“I have had this blog for xx years/months, and I currently get xxxxx visitors per month who are really focused on Paleo. I have reviewed products similar to yours and had a click through rate of xx and the conversion rate was xx. I’ve attached a screenshot of Google (or some other reputable) Analytics showing my last month’s traffic and I’ve also attached another Google Analytics screenshot with the click through rate for a review post I did on another company’s products.
Go ahead and include anything else you think might be helpful in helping us make a decision to send out samples to you. We’ve built some really great relationships with people who have sampled and reviewed our stuff, and we look forward to building another one with you!
